Handscape: Earthly Rhythms
Series: Handscapes
In this minimalist bronze study, I explore the integral bond between a dwelling and the land it occupies. The linear textures evoke the image of freshly furrowed fields or the gentle ripples of a lake, all leading toward the sturdy silhouette of a house. I am inspired by how the environment and architecture merge into one inseparable story of human presence within the repetitive cycles of nature. As… part of my "Handscape" (Rankvaizdis) series, this piece reflects my belief that a landscape is a tangible horizon we shape with our hands. Cast in my own foundry using the ancient lost-wax method at 1200°C, the sculpture preserves the rough toolmarks on its surface, celebrating authentic craftsmanship. Designed to be versatile, it can lie horizontally on a table or floor, inviting you to feel the "Anchor of Silence" through its tactile ridges.

Nerijus Kisielius, a master sculptor rooted in the Lithuanian classical tradition, harnesses bronze, wood, felt, and paint to bridge ancient techniques and contemporary stillness. His process revolves around lost-wax casting, where he transitions soft, hand-sculpted wax into enduring bronze forms—each piece embracing tactile textures and the narrative interplay of figure and shadow. Through highly symbolic sheep motifs and abstracted objects, his art radiates vulnerability, communal warmth, and a serene pastoral quiet, inviting the viewer to share in a sense of timelessness and the profound silence of fleeting moments made eternal.
