This vertical triptych in charcoal and acrylic on canvas presents a mountainous landscape that emerges and fades between light and shadow. The peaks, constructed from intense gestures and eroded textures, seem to float above a dark, all-absorbing depth, as if the territory extended beyond what is visible.
Each panel functions as an autonomous fragment, but it is in their separation that the work finds its true meaning: the void between the pieces… becomes a pause, a distance, a breath of the journey. There is no explicit path, but there is a clear sense of transit, of ascent and descent, and of constant searching.
Senderos explores the landscape as a metaphor for the inner journey. The mountains are not merely observed, but traversed. It is a work that speaks of processes, decisions, and the experience of moving forward even when the destination is not clear. A piece that inevitably invites one to get lost in order to find oneself.
Oscar Azula primarily uses charcoal and explores the figure and landscape, drawing on his extensive academic training in Colombia and Mexico. He experiments with the interplay of light and shadow, as well as contrasting materials and colors, achieving visual balances that embody the contradictions of contemporary life. His work conveys a powerful reflection on our essential connection to nature and seeks to awaken in the viewer a sense of belonging, respect, and vitality in the face of the tangible and human.
