About this artwork
This Ship does not sail: it emerges from the essence of charcoal and pastel. Barely suggested between matter and emptiness, the ship seems more memory than object, more trace than presence. The violent stroke of the charcoal constructs and unconstructs it at the same time, while the yellow line bursts forth as a route, a destination, or a wound that pierces the scene.
It is an inner journey. A point suspended between leaving and staying, between… what is abandoned and what is yet to be named. Here, the journey is not outward, it is toward the inevitable.
