The title "Almost an autumn night" suggests a moment of transition, an in-between. It captures the fleeting instant when autumn gives way to night, or perhaps when summer gives way to autumn.
I associate autumn with melancholy and nostalgia, feelings that are reflected in the atmosphere of the work. Night, on the other hand, evokes calm, a peaceful atmosphere.
The work, by virtue of its format and composition, invites intimate contemplation. It… immerses us in a suspended moment, where time seems to stand still.

Originally from the tranquil scenery of Switzerland, Patrick Piccinelli set forth on an enriching academic journey that took him to the distinguished corridors of ECAL (University of Art and Design, Lausanne, Switzerland), a stronghold of artistic brilliance on the global frontier. The respected tradition of flawless typography for which Switzerland is famed, coupled with the deep-seated influences of Swiss graphic design, known for its austere, minimalistic, and refined aesthetics, significantly guided Piccinelli’s artistic path. His palette is firmly rooted in geometric minimalism, a stylistic reverberation reminiscent of the illustrious “Zürich movement.” This era of artistic zeal was pioneered by notable figures such as Max Bill, Richard Paul Lohse, and Verena Loewenberg, luminaries who were the frontrunners of geometric or constructed artistry. His works have recently been acquired by collectors in the United States, Japan and Europe.
