We were looking around for an art studio to rent and I came across this placid and oddly liminal wall abutting the end of a desolate road. I was taken by the bands of varying beige tones and the white wash of the upper floors competing with the bright, overcast sky. I recreated these typically Parisian colors using my usual "palimpsest" collage technique that incorporates aged pages of old books and architectural plans. The juxtaposition of intersecting… geometric angles adds an abstract aspect to this depiction of the serene urban environment.
