About this artwork
moi
It was Easter weekend, and I wanted to do something fast. And free. Inspired by the work of Basquiat, I set off to create something that favored drawing, while still retaining a sense of the abstract. In the end, I became too precious about the execution of the skull and decided to leave the piece as minimal. The title, of course, is a play on words, and the form of the cranium may be reminiscent somewhat of a holy cross, blending the sacred… and profane. Three days of manifestation.

In this piece, I poured raw energy onto the canvas, blending bold colors with organic forms to evoke a deep, primal connection. The swirling horns and fragmented skull carry both strength and vulnerability, capturing the tension life holds. This artwork will bring an intense, dynamic spirit to your space, inviting you to feel the pulse of nature’s fierce beauty and the mysteries within.
Paul Bagnulo, a painter and printmaker with a background in graphic design and multimedia, works primarily with acrylic, ink, collage, and found materials. His figurative style transforms the abstract forms of Parisian rooftops—chimneys and eaves—into vibrant compositions, blending precise observation with experimental techniques. His art conveys a sense of wonder and lively admiration for urban simplicity, inviting viewers into an extemporaneous, emotionally charged exploration of everyday beauty.
