Small bowl with lemons
The still life "Small Bowl with Lemons" was created during a period when I began working with very muted colors on rough surfaces. Inspired by the Wabi-Sabi style, I consciously celebrate the beauty of imperfection here. A lemon rests in a small bowl, much too small, almost cramped; three more lemons are arranged around it, giving the painting depth. The lemons are recognizable solely by their outline; the color of the bowl… is dictated by the background and imposes a refined restraint on the painting.
Everything is calm, almost melancholic. The application of color and the soft shapes bring a harmonious energy to every room, conveying peace and contemplation.
