News reports and images of Ukrainians returning to their homeland inspired this painting. The vibrant reds symbolize the devastated state of their homeland upon their return. Echoing the national colors of Ukraine, the sky gradually turns blue, and the landscape is continuously swirled with yellow from the horizon. The atmosphere of the painting conveys, for me, the hope and confidence that the country can be rebuilt.
The painting was exhibited… in a solo exhibition in Bad Hersfeld in 2023 and at the ARTe art fair in Konstanz in 2024. The sides of the painting are painted, allowing it to be hung without a frame. The painting is signed and numbered on both the front and back and is ready to hang. The surface is coated with a protective UV-resistant varnish. It is a giclée print of the original artwork, printed on canvas in its original size.
Peter Stahr works as a painter and digital artist with a background in painting, media art, and web design, having completed his art studies in Braunschweig. He prefers acrylic and mixed media on large canvases, combining pigments, dispersions, earths, and other materials to create complex, profound works that oscillate between abstraction and representation. His abstract seascapes convey longing, inner peace, wanderlust, and hope, inviting the viewer on emotional journeys of discovery to places of personal longing. In Stahr's works, reality and imagination merge into a powerful visual language that extends far beyond the visible. His compositions are not mere depictions, but transformations of reality; an invitation to perceive the world with new eyes in all its complexity and to embark on a sensual journey between reality and vision.
