About this artwork
The Talking Walls image was inspired by a very old, abandoned house. Although the old walls were abandoned and shaped by their history, they spread a homely atmosphere that spoke of better times.
The viewer looks at a wall marked by decay. It is riddled with moisture and cracks. The plaster has come loose in many places or has been knocked off. Old wallpaper comes to light. Dust and dirt have settled.
An old, crumbling layer is visible under the… plaster that has been knocked off. And yet
the faded apricot-colored wallpaper and the preserved paint residues in combination with the decayed structure of the walls create a peculiar charm and a special beauty. The impression of warmth spreads.
