The day draws to a close in Venice, and a seasoned gondolier finds a rare moment of calm.
The afternoon crowds have dissolved into memory, their noise fading like an echo, leaving the city strangely empty. In this eerie quiet, a brilliant ray of light sweeps across the buildings, as if offering a private display to the solitary figure. His tiredness slips away. Bathed in this unexpected radiance, he feels briefly at one with the familiar city that… now appears transformed.
The colours carry an almost otherworldly quality, as though a quiet act of grace has touched the scene. In this silent welcome, his senses are enveloped, and a renewed sense of belonging stirs within him.
With this piece, I wanted to explore how moments of peace and beauty can arise even in places usually defined by movement and noise. Sometimes they appear unexpectedly—shaped by circumstances beyond our control—making their impact all the more striking, and at times, almost spiritual.
