About this artwork
Inspired by the global pandemic, I sought to capture a visceral energy in my depiction of London, translating the city's movement into a scene of fiery reds and expressive mark-making that evokes the chaos, tension, and uncertainty of the era. Westminster appears to pulse with its own internal heat, acting as the primary symbol for this unsettling time.
The intense reds, bleached architecture, and shattered effect of the splatter depict the capital… as a pulsating aura of disorientation—a landscape that feels both hallucinatory and unnerving. Beneath this sky, two figures are physically separated, navigating their own private tension. This distance serves as a subtle commentary on the profound isolation and "shattered" dynamism of a world momentarily out of sync. Ultimately, the painting is a meditation on the unstoppable urban heartbeat and the restless spirit of resilience that connects us, even in our moments of deepest uncertainty.
« I express the truest version of myself as I was, am, and will be in my work. »
