About this artwork
For this piece, I tried to capture the electric moment of starting fresh - that pivotal moment when leaving the familiar becomes an act of optimism and adventure. Saturated with sunlit hues, and amidst the bustle of anonymous figures on Barcelona's rambla, the narrative heart of the painting is found in the interplay between three central characters. The focus is a woman stepping into the light with a restless energy as she bids farewell to a closing…
chapter. Nearby, an observing figure watches her with a complex blend of sadness and admiration; his contented expression acknowledges the beauty of her "taking the plunge."I used intense layers and spontaneous movements to evoke the overlapping memories of a place she has long called home, as if the city itself is breathing, catching its breath in a bittersweet moment of release. The piece is a celebration of the courage it takes to move toward a new destiny, leaving behind a trail of shimmering history in the pursuit of what is to come.
