About this artwork
The exploitation of the planet is in full swing, no matter the cost. Raw materials are being plundered on land, the oceans are being fished out and littered. Rainforests, the Earth's lungs, are being cleared at an ever-increasing pace. The environment is being destroyed, and the climate is constantly warming. Thermic soils are melting – the highly toxic methane is being released and poisoning the air we breathe. All of this is done to satisfy the… greed of a few at the expense of all humanity. But that will only last until this planet literally explodes around our ears. And what is all the wealth worth if the very foundations of life are destroyed? The concentric circles draw the viewer to the center, where chaos and order merge. It is intended to reflect the inner urge for freedom and the fascination with the unknown, lending your space a powerful, dynamic atmosphere.
Rainer Englisch is self-taught and uses a variety of media such as paper, textiles, wood, glass, and metal, inspired by expressionist color. His techniques and styles vary depending on the subject and emotional impulse – from painting by numbers as a child to complex color combinations and deliberately shifting styles. His works reflect the full spectrum of human emotions and always strive to convey harmony and reconciliation, even in difficult themes.
