About this artwork
Kaleidoscope, or the Will of the Sea, is a maritime study. Humans are increasingly exploiting the world's oceans through fishing and shipping. Added to this are the negative impacts of environmental pollution and climate change with tsunamis. Symbolic of the animal world, humpback whales have roamed the oceans since time immemorial. Their limited habitat is viewed as if through a kaleidoscopic aquarium. And who cares about the will of the seas? It… is our children and grandchildren. In this work, I captured the wild power and unbridled will of the sea. Using bold acrylic paints and expressionistic forms, I wanted to make the energy and depth of the oceans tangible. It brings passion and dynamism to any room and invites you to immerse yourself in a colorful, emotional underwater world. A vibrant interplay of movement and color!
Rainer Englisch is self-taught and uses a variety of media such as paper, textiles, wood, glass, and metal, inspired by expressionist color. His techniques and styles vary depending on the subject and emotional impulse – from painting by numbers as a child to complex color combinations and deliberately shifting styles. His works reflect the full spectrum of human emotions and always strive to convey harmony and reconciliation, even in difficult themes.
