About this artwork
Children are the big losers in adult games, like roulette. Forgetting that they were once children themselves, parents abuse their children, criminal profiteers kidnap stolen children, enslave them, and force them into child labor, pedophiles abuse innocent children, and power-hungry despots turn them into child soldiers or turn them into war refugees in camps with no future. Will this never end? Sorry - it's a shitty game! Nothing works anymore!… Shouldn't children grow up with play, fun, and learning?
Through expressive colors and the fateful facial expressions of abused children, I wanted to visualize the inner phlegm, but also the flickering of hope. Every glance becomes a journey into the game of fate. The combination of acrylic and collage brings a vibrant energy that fills your space with moving emotion.
Rainer Englisch is self-taught and uses a variety of media such as paper, textiles, wood, glass, and metal, inspired by expressionist color. His techniques and styles vary depending on the subject and emotional impulse – from painting by numbers as a child to complex color combinations and deliberately shifting styles. His works reflect the full spectrum of human emotions and always strive to convey harmony and reconciliation, even in difficult themes.
