About this artwork
In Ecology Footprint, I explore the quiet accumulation of human presence — not as narrative, but as residue.
The surface carries repeated impressions that resemble worn treads or footprints, suggesting movement across time rather than a single moment. These marks are embedded into a muted, weathered ground, evoking landscapes shaped by use, erosion, and memory. I was interested in how traces remain long after intention disappears.
The two orange… forms emerge as interruptions — not symbols, but signals. Their color and geometry contrast sharply with the surrounding field, drawing attention to thresholds, warnings, or points of impact. They sit within the composition without explanation, much like the ecological consequences we inherit without fully seeing how they arrived.
This work is not a statement of blame, but of presence. It reflects on how we move through the world, what we leave behind, and how the land quietly records every passage.
I am a painter and photographer whose work grows out of a long engagement with sculpture, art history, and arts education across diverse cultural contexts. My practice is process-based, shaped by layering, erasure, and restraint, allowing each surface to evolve through time rather than resolve quickly.
Working within abstraction, I draw from abstract expressionism, minimalism, and conceptual traditions. I am also a writer and published author, and my visual and written work share a common inquiry into presence, silence, and the spaces where meaning is felt rather than explained.
I’m interested in the tension between gesture and stillness—how texture, negative space, and chromatic weight can function as active emotional forces. My paintings do not rely on narrative; instead, they invite moments of quiet connection and introspection, allowing viewers to pause and inhabit the interval between pressure and release
