In this photograph, I've captured a hauntingly serene scene within a cypress head in the Florida Everglades, using black and white to underline the timeless dance between light and darkness. Every element, from the water's silky surface to the skyward-reaching trees, speaks of nature's profound quiet and resilience. This piece invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and feel the solitude and beauty of untouched natural environments, provoking a sense… of awe and respect for nature’s depth and mystery.
This image was captured on film with a large format pinhole camera. A pinhole camera has no lens, no view finder, and no electronics.
The image is digitally printed on high quality archival luster paper with archival pigment ink. Prints are made to order and shipped rolled up in a generally oversized tube
I love working with one of my vintage cameras. My cameras range in age from 85 to 45 years old and in film formats from 2 1/4 × 2 1/4 inch to 8 × 10 inch. I also love working with alternative processes, such as pinhole photography. Somebody said once about one of my pinhole Everglades images that the image Really conveys that Everglades look! That was one of the nicest comments I have ever received. Is that not what photographers are going for? That moment that the subject, the viewer, and the photographer all become one?
