About this artwork
Inspired by Stranger Things, this work presents a fragmented portrait where identity dissolves between innocence and monstrosity, reality and construction.
The face is deconstructed through overlapping eyes, distorted features, and hyper-realistic yet almost synthetic skin, creating a figure that feels both human and artificially engineered.
Set against a deceptively pure turquoise background, the composition contrasts outward clarity with deep… psychological dissonance, evoking the tension between self-image and external projection.
Blurring the boundaries between victim and weapon, child and experiment, the piece explores the unstable nature of identity in a world shaped by perception, visual culture, and the endless reconstruction of the self.

I’m Sar La Rouge, a Franco-Togolese digital artist based in Cape Town. My work combines photography, digital collage, and new technologies to explore how images influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us.
Using photographs from my personal archive, I create layered and colourful compositions that mix emotion, culture and identity. As a self-taught artist, I approach digital art freely and intuitively, always experimenting with new ways to create.
My work often touches on themes of femininity, technology, and contemporary society, while celebrating visibility, and self-expression.
Today, I continue to expand my practice through physical prints, immersive installations, video, and AI, using digital art as a space without limits.
