Silvano Crespi was born in Fiume, Italy, on December 19, 1944.
Bologna has been his adopted city since 1949. From his school days, he developed a passion for drawing and the figurative arts, first experimenting with ink, tempera, and watercolor. Then, starting in 1974, he gradually and progressively found his true calling in oil painting.
Silvano Crespi is a painter with a degree in Political Science (Bologna, 1978) and a deep passion for oil painting, born from his study of the great European masters of the 18th and 19th centuries. He uses a reflective, introspective, and post-Impressionist technique, characterized by broad areas of color, a focus on light and shadow, vibrant colors, and perspectives that evoke infinity. His works, imbued with natural landscapes and atmospheric evocations, convey an intense emotion of silent contemplation, celebrating the fleeting nature of time and the eternal relationship between the individual and the universe.
