'Carnival' explores the meeting point between memory, emotion, and celebration. Inspired by the landscapes of La Pampa, Argentina, the painting combines vibrant colour, expressive brushwork, and symbolic imagery to create a journey between the observed and the imagined.
The double rainbow acts as a symbol of optimism, innocence, and good fortune, while colourful banners and dynamic gestures evoke the atmosphere and movement of a carnival. These… energetic elements are balanced by the dark silhouettes of native monte trees, introducing a quieter sense of reflection and transformation.
The tree forms were inspired by photographs I took while working on a cattle farm in La Pampa, where these woodlands provide vital shelter during the intense summer heat. By combining personal memories with imagined landscapes, 'Carnival' invites viewers to find their own connections and emotions within the scene.
