About this artwork
I found this metal object in the street when on a 'swalkeling' trip in Assisi, Italy. I responded to it by adding a photograph of the surface of a neigbouring fountain with the residue of coins once thrown in, their rusty shadows still visible.
In this work, I explore an object out of its original context, rediscovering its form as a poetic essay of lines in space.
The piece blends element together to reframe an icon in memory of the famous Saint… Francis of Assisi who fostered the poor.
I invite you to find beauty in this everyday object and reimagine the overlooked and side-lined, with a renewed sense of care.
The art work has a thoughtful and understated energy, while at the same time creating a conversation piece about its title for any room it inhabits.

Susie Wright is a London born artist and curator who lives and works in Germany. With environment at the heart of her practice, she uses a range of experimental processes to create her own personal iconography. Using her experience of place and landscape, she weaves concepts together into multi-layered collections. Works on paper, installation, painting and digital drawing, make up her portfolio.
