About this artwork
During lockdown, we were confined to the four walls of our own homes as the news streamed grim and spectacular images of world events into our living rooms, we also used our memories to expand our world. In 'Night Shift', I represent a student room I once stayed in, the place was very cold in winter and I don’t remember the curtains! To make this image, I created a cardboard model of the window and projected light through it to get the shadows right…
! We would go to the cinema just down the road and to the pub up the road for last orders on a Sunday. I was rarely alone on the streets after dusk as there had been a series of attacks on women on the streets of the city.

Susie Wright is a London born artist and curator who lives and works in Germany. With environment at the heart of her practice, she uses a range of experimental processes to create her own personal iconography.
