About this artwork
Printed cotton threads with die-cut interventions
Vertical cuts pierce a curtain of woven landscape, opening narrow windows onto mountain and sea beyond. The island exists only in the gaps — visible precisely where the surface has been removed.

Credentials
- Works on commission
Natalia y Salomon Sutton is a Mexican visual artist whose multidisciplinary background spans filmmaking, photography, painting, textiles, and installation. She employs deeply handcrafted techniques—layering archival prints, thread, encaustic, oil paint, and hand-cut paper—to fragment and transform images, creating unique and tactile objects that defy digital reproducibility. Her emotionally resonant works evoke the tension between memory and absence, encouraging the viewer to slow down, look closely, and rediscover physical presence in a fleeting, immaterial world.
