About this artwork
Archival pigment print on mahogany wood with encaustic.
A lone boat drifts almost imperceptibly across a field of wax and wood grain. The image nearly disappears into its own material — presence reduced to the faintest trace of a passage.

Natalia y Salomon Sutton is a Mexican visual artist whose multidisciplinary background spans filmmaking, photography, painting, textiles, and installation. She employs deeply handcrafted techniques—layering archival prints, thread, encaustic, oil paint, and hand-cut paper—to fragment and transform images, creating unique and tactile objects that defy digital reproducibility. Her emotionally resonant works evoke the tension between memory and absence, encouraging the viewer to slow down, look closely, and rediscover physical presence in a fleeting, immaterial world.
