About this artwork
Carved and painted bas-relief on a wooden frame
My sculpted landscapes are like the Lingbi stones, those rocks that represent the macrocosm within the microcosm. Like them, my landscapes are part of a cosmic perspective.
The work is dominated by a strong contrast between the deep blackness of the rock and the swirling whiteness of the water. The material is sculpted onto the support, making the weight of the stone and the liveliness of the water… palpable. Through the interplay of relief, light, and textures, the water becomes movement, breath, and memory.
A meditation on the invisible forces that flow through us.
