About this artwork
In this engraving, each panel tells a story of escape and contemplation of the plant world.
This work on paper was produced using Heliogravure on three photopolymer plates, one of which was designed to create an embossing.
Photogravure is a process that transfers an image onto a copper or photopolymer plate using photosensitive gelatin. Used in the 19th century to reproduce images in large numbers, it is now primarily used in the artistic field.…
Under ultraviolet light, a contact print is made on special gelatin paper. The UV light hardens the paper's gelatin in proportion to the exposure. I then ink the plate and meticulously wipe it by hand. 300 gsm paper is used for printing on my press in my workshop.
