About this artwork
In this work, I combined the delicacy of felt with the precision of engraving to reveal landscapes imbued with poetry. Each panel tells a story and invites the viewer on a stroll, a journey between nature and memory.
This work on paper was produced using Heliogravure on four photopolymer plates, one of which was specially designed for embossing.
Photogravure is a process that allows the transfer of the image of one of my paintings onto a copper… or photopolymer plate using photosensitive gelatin. Once exposed to ultraviolet light, I proceed with inking, wiping, and printing on my printing press.
Used in the 19th century to reproduce an image, it is now used mainly in the artistic field.
« For the composition of the work, I am looking for a poetry of mystery, a certain vision of reality. »
Sylvie Poupé is an award-winning French painter who has exhibited her work both nationally and in the Middle East. She describes her artistic journey as a quest, that of "transcribing nature within a unique universe." In her paintings, Sylvie frames her compositions as the starting point of her exploration. The frame acts as a window onto unexplored landscapes, revealing the diversity of nature. In her engraving work, Sylvie emphasizes poetry derived from observing the natural world. Her creations are built upon the interplay of lines, shapes, and colors. In this way, Sylvie creates a harmonious and vibrant whole.
