Twenty million years ago, two active volcanoes covered the region that is now Anatolia in a thick layer of lava. The mixture of basalt, ash and sand cooled down and solidified over the years to form tuff, a porous rock. Wind and water then moulded it into an abstract landscape of breathtaking tower-like tuff rocks, known as fairy chimneys, which transformed the valleys into fairy-tale scenery. I went there in winter,… hoping for snow, and I was lucky. The white layer gives the image a colourless and timeless atmosphere.
This image is also available in a larger format as a 'Unique Piece'.
