About this artwork
This small, fine oil painting shows Paris in the evening with a Seine bridge, a pleasure boat and the city lights.
What makes this painting special are the colors of the evening sky: delicate purple, sky blue, pink, and a bright orange with hints of pale yellow shape the scene. The colors of the sky are reflected in the water of the Seine. I painted this picture in two coats of oil paint with loose brushstrokes on canvas. The canvas is mounted on… an MDF board and framed by a mount. The mount is a delicate gray, allowing the colors of the painting to shine even more.
I love the evening atmosphere on the Seine and just had to paint this motif!
« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
