About this artwork
The artist wanted to paint a gas station in the dark. When she was taking photos for it in the drizzle, a jogger came by to add the motif. The topics are the glow in the dark, the light scattering and the reflections of the light. The painter is fascinated by the diverse luminous objects that can be seen everywhere. A certain contrast arises in this picture due to the background of trees. These trees are not man-made and could have looked similar…
1000 years ago. Against this background, the lights of the gas station shine all the more. The painter allows the viewer a different perspective on her everyday environment.

« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
