About this artwork
"Fuck Freedom" explores the ambivalence of a concept that often appears as an ideal yet simultaneously contains inherent contradictions. At its center is a multifaceted figure, composed of conflicting elements – both liberator and subjugated, beacon of light and threat.
A torch rises like a symbol of emancipation, reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty – and in the next moment tips over into a provocative gesture, almost like a raised middle finger… against its own system.
Other limbs function as controlling, releasing, and cutting tools. A saber-like protrusion resembles a scorpion's stinger, while a dragon-like creature forms in the lower area – both protection and attack.
Freedom appears here not as a mere state, but as a force with consequences.
Every decision creates space – and takes it away from someone else.
The work poses a quiet question:
Where does self-determination end and where does freedom begin?

As Uomo Nero, Christoph Czarnetzke creates a mysterious fusion of archaic ritual and introspective self-exploration through painting and sculpture.
