About this artwork
The series was created for my 2019 solo exhibition at the Fondamenta Gallery, the evocative underground exhibition space of Inside Art magazine. The site-specific work reflects my exploration of the city, and particularly of urban peripheries (the gallery was located in a densely populated suburb of Rome). In the overlapping of "stories," the white spaces left amidst the color evoke the slatted roofs typical of suburban housing.

Valter Vari uses acrylics, enamels, and letterpress inks on canvas, fabric, paper, wood, metal, and recycled materials, drawing on his artistic and architectural training in Rome. His techniques range from abstract-informal to minimalist spatial analysis, integrating formal stylizations and experimentation with different media. Each work invites the viewer to perceive new energy and profound harmony, initiating an emotional dialogue with the environment and the viewer.
