The title of this piece can be interpreted as a paperweight that holds a tuning fork and/or a paperweight that holds specifically an A-tuner which vibrates at the musical pitch of A-440. I also made this piece in tribute to my high-school Art teacher, Arthur Brecken, where the shape of the letter "A" is a copy of how he always signed his correspondences. Aside from these meanings, A Tuner Paperweight is simply a music-inspired piece. On its upper… surface, the five lines of the music staff merge together and spread apart to reveal the beginning phrase of J. S. Bach's "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring". The 14 k. yellow gold music notes that contain diamonds quote the first phrase of a chorale melody, and these arch over its own florid accompaniment in visual counterpoint. The paperweight is quite heavy, made from five layers of sterling silver sheet on edge. The commercial A-440 tuning fork is included in the sale. The piece took 205 hours to create.
