Stone inlay has always appealed to me. In this wall hanging, the pine tree shape is inlayed with tiger-iron (composed of tiger-eye and hematite) and naturally green wood within a sterling silver edge that mechanically secures the bevelled inlay in place. No glue has been used. The entire outer edge of the silver tree is also bevelled and is precisely fit into a slice of pink and green and white stone from Newfoundland, Canada, all from the back… of the slice, again without glue. It is really an inlayed inlay. This entire unit is then indirectly locked in place by way of rivets through a 10 cm (4 inch) square sterling frame and its sterling backing. The scene of a weathered pine tree, perhaps with a forest and snow in the background, somehow feels quintessentially Canadian. On the back, a nail hole is situated in the upper middle of the frame, and a steel disk is located centrally in case a magnet is placed within the wall. Stone Inlay Wall Hanging took 286 hours to create.
