The watercolor is vivid and colorful, depicting a summer scene in a Mediterranean village alley, perhaps in Greece, Croatia, or southern Italy. Three figures, seen from behind, are strolling along a sun-drenched cobblestone roadway.
I speak of a simple and universal story of vacation, discovery and strolling. It is a living "postcard" of a moment of happiness. By showing the characters from behind, I invite the viewer to identify with them, to project… themselves into the sunny walk and to share their experience. It is a celebration of slowness and the pleasure of traveling. I express a feeling of joy of living, escape and warmth. The saturated color palette is an explosion of positive energy. It is an optimistic work that evokes the lightness, tranquility and simple beauty of a vacation moment. I do not seek to be melancholic or complex, but to directly communicate a feeling of well-being and wonder.
Born in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, William Marcheval is a polymorphic artist, moving from painting to computer graphics. He practices glazing and sfumato, approaching Impressionism with a touch of naiveté. His constantly evolving works combine realism and abstraction, exploring themes such as tenderness and humanism. Marcheval seeks to evoke wonder, questioning, and escape through his artwork.
