About this artwork
With this watercolor, I immerse you in a cobblestone street lined with tall buildings with elegant and somewhat fanciful architecture, reminiscent of a dreamlike Paris or another European capital. The buildings are adorned with turrets, domes, and large windows. Awnings cover the shopfronts on the ground floor.
I tell you an imprecise story, a suspended moment. It is an anonymous stroll in a city that is both familiar and imaginary. The fact that… the characters are seen from behind invites you to join in their stroll, to project yourself into this street. It is the story of an ordinary day sublimated by my gaze. I wanted to create a very evocative work that, through the simplicity of its means, succeeds in creating a powerful poetic universe and in conveying a profound feeling of calm and urban beauty.
The style is figurative but moves away from realism towards impressionism and poetic illustration.
