About this artwork
My first large-format oil painting from the early 80s. I was in a serious relationship crisis at the time and was totally devastated. Since it was unusual, even frowned upon, to seek help in such a case, let alone psychotherapy - only the Americans did that - I helped myself out of the crisis with autosuggestion. eye contact with the tiger. I can't say for sure whether it was the self-induced influence on the psyche or whether time simply healed the wounds. In any case, I experienced strength, power and confidence through this visualization and even today I enjoy the tension and calm that lie simultaneously in the image of this tiger. Visually, this is achieved by the triangular shape that runs from the tips of the ears to the tip of the chin like a "Caution, give way" sign.
