About this artwork
“Welcome to the Future: Transcendence” by Andreas Garbe is part of the 2025 winter exhibition “From Shadow to Light” at the Neue Galerie Dresden. This process-oriented work in mixed media acrylic is created outdoors; weather, light, and drying phases visibly shape the surface. a representation of a state of being. Thematically, the painting belongs to the “Welcome to the Future” series and refers to two levels of transcendence: future models of consciousness detaching itself from the body, and the already perceptible return to mental strength, mindfulness, and self-control.

Andreas Garbe is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland. Working abstractly with figurative and representational influences, his diverse compositions are both atmospheric and philosophical. In addition, Garbe explores themes relating to social issues, literature, meditation, and sensory perception. His landscapes, figurative pieces and abstractions are created using acrylics, oils, and resin on canvas.
