“Secrets” is a multi-layered textile mixed-media work that addresses the hidden and unspoken.
Warm copper, gold, and earth tones permeate the surface, lending the work a sensual depth. Textile fragments, hand-embroidered structures, and self-developed materials overlap to form a dense structure reminiscent of organic layers or traces of past processes.
Between transparency and density, areas emerge that elude view while simultaneously hinting… at further layers hidden beneath. “Secrets” plays with this tension – between revealing and concealing, between surface and inner space.
The light is absorbed by the metallic shimmering parts and gently reflected, making the work appear vibrant and change depending on the perspective.
“Secrets” invites you to take a closer look and discover your own stories within the structures.
Anke Pradel-Schönknecht uses textile materials as well as painting, collage, and mixed media – her creative path led her from classical painting through studies in textile and surface design to experimental textile art. With sophisticated techniques such as dyeing, printing, sewing, and layering diverse materials, she creates three-dimensional relief images and art quilts that combine tactile and visual stimuli. Her artworks convey curiosity, sensuality, and a captivating depth; they invite viewers to understand structures not only visually but also emotionally.
