About this artwork
In my watercolor "Wild Goose," I captured the special atmosphere of an evening at Lake Saaler in the Bergisches Land region – the moment when the light from the sky touches the ice and bathes nature in soft shades of gold and blue. The wild goose in the foreground is the silent observer of the scene, enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquility, presence, and natural grace.
The subdued light and the transparency of the watercolors create a meditative… atmosphere. Gentle gradients, reflections, and fine details generate a poetry of the moment, best described as atmospheric impressionism – a play of light, stillness, and depth.
"Wild Goose" is a work that makes the connection to nature palpable and opens our eyes to the beauty of small, often overlooked moments. It invites collectors to pause and experience the quiet magic of light, water, and tranquility – a watercolor that brings beauty and contemplative clarity to the room.
Annett Coumont is a contemporary watercolor artist who lives and works near Cologne. Using high-quality watercolors on Arches cotton paper, she creates atmospheric works that explore light, stillness, and the emotional impact of nature.
A self-taught artist influenced by international watercolor masters, she developed a distinctive visual language that blends naturalistic observation, impressionistic light, and contemporary, biophilic aesthetics. Her work focuses on depictions of nature and landscapes, floral motifs, and still lifes.
Her works arise from an exploration of solastalgia – the sadness over the loss of familiar natural spaces. The beauty of her paintings points to the fragility of what surrounds us.
Coumont's works are regularly selected for international watercolor exhibitions and are found in private collections worldwide.
