About this artwork
An original upcycling work made from a mosaic of colored aluminum squares, cut from cans collected everywhere. These "pixels" are stapled onto a PVC panel (a support recovered from printing shops), without adding paint.
A primary forest in Reunion Island, full of mysteries, elves, and all sorts of animals. A dream come true for a sleeping Mexican as a dodo whispers in his ear, "Wake up! Primary forests are disappearing at an accelerated rate."…
Tropical primary forests suffered their worst decline in twenty years in 2024
According to the Global Forest Watch, 6.7 million hectares of these ecosystems, which are crucial for climate and biodiversity, were lost in one year. This is a level not seen in two decades (for example, 1.7 million hectares of primary forests were lost in 2020, a 25% increase compared to 2019).
CanB primarily uses recycled aluminum cans, drawing on a background combining art history and creative self-teaching in Reunion Island. His innovative technique blends a meticulous mosaic of metallic "pixels" with artisanal rigor, exploring diverse styles—from Impressionism to Surrealism—and creating immersive and fascinating works. His creations, both luminous and committed, convey hope, wonder, and a keen awareness of the fragile beauty of the world we share.
