About this artwork
The inspiration behind this artwork came from my fascination with the concept of time and how we perceive it. Through this drawing, I wanted to capture a moment in a room, a bedroom, that tells a story about the passage of time.
In this piece, you will see an unmade bed with rumpled bedding, window drapes, an open door, a chair draped with a blanket, a mirror reflecting items on a dresser, and a stack of pillows and blankets, all illuminated by… natural light. The attention to detail in rendering the textures and the play of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and realism that draws you into the scene.
This drawing reflects on the passing of time and the stories our spaces hold.
Danette Newton, a seasoned artist armed with oil paints and acrylics, originates from a modest background. Her vibrant, geometric designs are interlaced with abstract, figural landscapes, produced free-hand demonstrating the beauty in natural imperfections. Newton’s creations are a dynamic exploration of color relationships, and an empathetic ode to the perfectly flawed human condition.
