About this artwork
This still-life was set up for a student limited palette exercise. I was so inspired once I set it up that just had to do it myself as it delves deep into the nuances of color mixing. The only Pigments used are Alizarine Crimson, Phthalo Green, White plus Cadmium Yellow Medium very minimally. It was fun to explore the purple shades from soft lavender/greys in shadows to deep almost black peppers. The inspiration for most of my paintings comes from…
