I combine photography, colors and textile techniques to create a visual metaphor for the burning pain of heartbreak and soul blues. Using a personal selfie as a basis, I draw the metaphorical parallel between the physical pain of a sunburn and the emotional wounds that burn deep within the soul.
The colors on the canvas flow vividly and strongly, symbolizing the intense, almost tangible emotions we experience in moments of loss or inner turmoil.… The use of textile elements reinforces the feeling of fragility and vulnerability - just as skin reacts sensitively after a sunburn, our inner being is often vulnerable too.
The stitched lines reinforce the impression that these emotional wounds are not only visible, but also tangible – they are palpable, touchable and inseparable from human existence.
Eva Silberknoll, a graduate of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, works with photography, textile techniques and fragrances. By combining these media elements, she creates mixed media that connect seemingly incompatible fields. Her works tell stories of individual journeys and the challenges of deviating from the norm, viewing fashion as a means of self-discovery. With a strong sense of personal freedom, Silberknoll's works exude an inspiring message: be yourself.
