About this artwork
Hello marks a powerful return to self — a celebration of freedom, authenticity, and creative awakening. Guided entirely by intuition, I let emotion lead each movement, shifting between markers, acrylics, and even a simple pencil. Two forces met on the canvas: sensitivity, reflected in soft gray tones, and fire — embodied in the final gesture when I touched the surface with my fingers covered in fluorescent orange paint.
This contrast became a dialogue… between stillness and passion, vulnerability and strength. Each layer carries traces of release, discovery, and transformation. Hello is my most intimate painting so far — a milestone in my creative growth, where I met myself again through colour, texture, and touch. In that moment, I said hello to me.
Kaya Heyman is a painter and printmaker with a foundation in architecture, working intuitively across drawing, painting, and linocut printmaking. She explores abstraction and symbolism, layering inks and mixed media with expressive, meditative techniques that allow intuition and subconscious imagery to surface. Her art embodies the cycles of transformation in the natural world and seeks to awaken personal reflection, wonder, and a sense of inner renewal in her viewers.
