About this artwork
The work "District 24/3" is the third in the so-called "Districts" series and depicts a section of a fictional industrial port from a bird's eye or drone perspective. In contrast to the blue-gray factory and street lines are geometrically demarcated indigo-blue water surfaces that reflect the incoming sunlight. Harbor cranes glowing in red tones and clusters of freight containers provide an additional contrast. The industrial theme is expanded here… to include a port situation.
Ken Spohrer uses painting, photography, and drawing as expressive media, influenced by his formative experience at the Guggenheim Museum. His works are characterized by complex techniques and an experimental style in which he plays with light, perspective, and color. With each painting, he invites the viewer to experience wonder, amazement, and the excitement of the moment.
