About this artwork
Beneath a dense, textured midnight-blue sky, a silver moon floats like a silent beacon. The pictorial surface vibrates with an almost mineral quality, traversed by rhythms and repetitive signs. Vertical lines of acid green cross the composition, like coded rain or columns of living data, while horizontal bands of orange, organic and luscious, stretch out like strata of memory.
The work evokes a mental landscape more than a physical territory: an… emotional cartography where each motif acts as a unit of language. The forms repeat, respond to one another, accumulate, creating a tension between order and excess, structure and instinct. The contrasting palette—deep blue, vibrant green, incandescent orange—accentuates this duality and situates the work in a universe that is at once pop, nocturnal, and introspective.
Between abstraction and symbolic narration, the work invites the viewer to decipher an intimate language.
Ophélie Simonet, also known as KOA, is a self-taught painter born in 1987 in La Rochelle, France. Inspired by pop culture, 90s nostalgia, and her synesthesia, she favors a neo-pop, minimalist, and colorful technique, enriched by a naive style that celebrates the childlike nature of art while challenging academic conventions. Through a playful and quirky energy, her works radiate good vibes and invite us to rediscover the audacity of simplicity, awakening the child within each of us and instilling contagious joy. KOA is a member of the Taylor Foundation, listed on Artprice. She exhibits and sells her works in France and internationally.
