“The Pre-Sunset Ray” is the moment when the sun, already descending toward the horizon, still manages to touch the clouds with a soft golden light. The Dutch evening dissolves into misty shades of blue and green, and the boundaries between sky and earth become almost imperceptible. In this silence there is a gentle nostalgia, as if the day is saying farewell, leaving behind a tender, barely perceptible glow. A low layer of clouds merges with the… ground and hides everything that lived during the day, leaving in a hazy mist what is meant to remain unknown. In this transparent, bluish stillness there is something both warm and unsettling — as though another reality begins just beyond what can be seen. The painting holds this fragile moment between light and shadow, between memory and mystery, between what once was and what remains concealed.
I am inspired by life in all its manifestations — from a dewdrop on the grass to clouds dissolving on the horizon. My work draws on both the visible world and realities beyond immediate perception, where a simple detail can become the starting point for a new artwork.
Rooted in my Siberian birthplace and shaped by a classical art education in Russia, my practice reflects a deep connection with nature and a long-standing fascination with people. I work across painting, photography, video, and digital media, creating multilayered visual narratives that explore perception, presence, and transformation.
Method of working with a camera: Alongside planned projects, I photograph daily, guided by a selective and attentive gaze drawn to overlooked details that spark new ideas. These moments often initiate long-term projects, developed over time through carefully curated images from different places and periods.
