About this artwork
I created The Space Between Mountains after standing before a horizon of hills on my home island of Skye that seemed to melt into one another — layer upon layer of deep, rolling blue. The light had almost gone, leaving just a glimmer over the highest ridges. What struck me most was the intensity of the colour — as though the entire landscape had been dipped in indigo and still shimmered with memory.
This piece is about mood as much as form. It’s… abstracted, almost dreamlike, with no sharp edges, only tone and texture. The hills undulate like waves under moonlight — silent, still, and saturated with emotion. It’s a colour-drenched composition, designed to evoke calm and quiet drama.
The artwork looks stunning on white walls, or above a navy blue or charcoal sofa — it’s the kind of piece that transforms a space, subtle yet striking.
