About this artwork
The FREQUENCIES series is dedicated to the communication system generated by our internal electricity, which is essential for the connection between cells and the functioning of our nervous and muscular systems, but also for the relationship between living beings.
We emit signals, smells, or frequencies that connect us with people who, in some way, are on the same communication channel as us.
This work is dedicated to the seeds we sow around us.… Some become weeds that we must uproot to allow the roots we want to sustain us—our values—to grow. It's important to find balance between who we are and who we want to be.
With over 25 years of experience in artistic research, María Martínez Araújo's work is an exercise in synthesis between geometric order and emotional impulse. Her artistic language was consolidated during her time as a social educator, where painting emerged not only as a tool for personal balance, but also as a profound exploration of the human need for structure and harmony. Initially influenced by the ornamental richness of Gustav Klimt, María has evolved toward a geometric abstraction centered on what she calls Frequencies: concentric structures that act as visual anchor points. Her work invites the viewer on a centripetal journey, starting from a vibrant core and moving toward a controlled expansion of color. Throughout his career, he has experimented with various media, notably his participation in institutional projects in the provinces of Valladolid and Huesca.
